The architect-designed beach house is bright and tastefully decorated in a simple Nordic style with wooden floors, a cosy wood-burning stove and high ceilings. The large southeast-facing windows facing the water provide a unique light in the spacious kitchen/living room and offer uninterrupted panoramic views across the Little Belt towards the islands of Funen, Brandsø and Bogø. The two bedrooms are equipped with double beds (140x200 cm) and the living room has an extra sofa bed. Large wardrobe in one of the bedrooms. Both the living room and both bedrooms have glass doors leading directly to the outdoors.

Enjoy life outside

Morning coffee can often be enjoyed at the small café table on the wooden terrace in front of the house, while the large, partially covered view terrace facing south-west with several garden tables invites you to enjoy meals together. The house is peacefully sheltered below the cliff, and the barbecue, parasols, sun loungers and sheltered cosy corners add to the outdoor possibilities. Hejlsminde Bay is a popular sailing paradise with perfect conditions for windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, a sit-on-top kayak and an older sea kayak are available for guests (at their own risk). Children in particular will appreciate the fine sandy beach and public jetty in front of the house, and after a beach trip, salt water and sand can be rinsed off under the outdoor shower.

Get close to local experiences

A larger, shallow beach with a summer kiosk and a cosy harbour is within walking distance. There are several restaurants along the seafront (depending on the season). There is also the lovely old Hejlsminde Badehotel with a small water park. Great nature experiences can be had by following the nature trail that leads all the way around the bird sanctuary Hejlsminde Nor - or simply by taking a walk along the beach. Daily necessities can be bought in Hejls, while the cosy market towns of Kolding and Haderslev offer both shopping and cultural experiences, including the castle museum Koldinghus. A very special experience is the Herrnhut town of Christiansfeld, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the history and breathtaking views make Skamlingsbanken an ideal excursion destination.

Important information

Ved Kysten is the address for just nine beach houses and the private gravel road can only be used for loading and unloading, so the view is never spoilt by parked cars. There is a private, marked parking space about 100 metres away near the stairs behind the house (possibly a little further away in winter). Microwave, vacuum cleaner and high chair are in the annex; there are also various outdoor games and beach stuff for children. The house is insulated all year round, but in winter the outdoor shower is closed and the public bathing jetty is taken inside.
